Maya Murthy (vocal)

Maya is an 8th grader at Kennedy Middle School who has been training in Carnatic Music since the age of 4 for a decade. Currently, Maya learns from Smt. Jayalakshmi Santhanam in Chennai. Maya gave her first solo concert at the Balaji temple for Vijaya Dashmi, and then Chennai for the 2011 December Music Season. For the past 4 years, Maya has been a participant in the Cleveland Sustaining Sampradaya Program, as well as being a part of the Sustaining Sampradaya group that gave a series of concerts during the 2009 Music Season in Chennai. Maya is also a part of the Xpressions Dance Group and enjoys writing.

Vignesh Thyagarajan (Violin)

Vignesh Thyagarajan started learning carnatic vocal and violin at the age of 5 years with his mother Smt. Rama Thyagarajan. Vignesh is currently under the tutelage of his uncle Vidwan Shri.Delhi P.Sunderrajan. Vignesh regularly accompanies the bay area music schools and carnatic chamber concerts. Vignesh has accompanied on violin for students of bay area music schools and also given solo performances under the banner of SVLOTUS, Nandalala Mission, Carnatic Chamber Concerts (CCC) , Dheemtana, Swaralahari Local community TV channel and December Music festival 2011. Vignesh learns western violin through private lessons and he is in the Intermediate String Orchestra at California Youth Symphony (CYS). Vignesh is a sophomore in Cupertino High School CA.

Gopal Ravindhran (Mridangam)

Gopal Ravindhran has been under the tutelage of Sri Ravindra Bharathy Sridharan for the past 9 years. In addition, he has attended special sessions with Sri Neyveli Narayanan. Gopal has been a sought after accompanist for various musical schools in Bay Area and has been performing regularly in Chennai for the past couple of years. He has also been a active performer in his Guru, Ravi's school, Nadhopasana Academy of Fine Arts. He has won several prizes in competitions conducted in the bay area, Chicago and Cleveland. In 2009 he had his Mrudangam Arangetram , accompanying Vidwan Sri Delhi Sunderajan on Vocal , Vidwan Sri Vittal Ramamurthy on the violin, and Vidwan Sri A.MahaDevan on the Morsing. Gopal is a sophomore at Irvington High in Fremont .

Akshay Jagadeesh (Vocal)

Akshay Jagadeesh has been learning Carnatic Vocal Music from Guru Smt. Jayashree Varadarajan, Founder/Director of Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandir School of Fine Arts for the past few years. Akshay has performed with the music school in several Bay Area venues, such as the Shiva Murugan temple Concord, Sanatan Dhatma Kendra Sunnyvale, Badarikashrama San Leandro, and Kannada Koota of Northern California on various festival occasions. Akshay was also part of the school’s 25th Anniversary “Kalavandana” celebration. In addition to learning Carnatic Vocal music, Akshay is trained in the tabla and piano. Apart from music, Akshay has been involved in several other activities in high school. Akshay is an active member and Captain of the Harker Speech and Debate Program, and ended both his 11th and 12th grades as one of the top 5 Public Forum debaters in the nation. Akshay was also a member of his school's tennis and cross country teams. Akshay graduated from high school this past May and will be attending the University of California at Berkeley to study Computer Science in the fall.

Varun Viswanath (Mridangam)

Varun Viswanath started learning Mridangam at the age of five, and has since been under the tutelage of Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan, the leading disciple of Mridangam Maestro Sri. Vellore G Ramabadhran, at Sarvalaghu Percussion Arts Center, in San Jose. Varun has performed widely in the Bay area for various music schools, LOTUS, Sangeeth Ankur/Dhwani, SIFA Thyagaraja day, CCC, and for various events of Sanatana Dharma Kendra, Badrikashrama, Livermore temple, and various other fundraiser events. Varun has won prizes in various competitions in the Bay Area for OSAAT, Papanasam Sivan Academy, and Naada Nritya. In January 2012 at the age of 11, Varun had his mridangam arangetram in Chennai, India where he accompanied the great Vidwan Sri. O.S.Thyagarajan, along with Sri. Mullaivasal G. Chandramouli on the Violin and Sri.Trichy K. Murali on the Ghatam. Most recently, Varun has accompanied Sri Papanasam Ashok Ramani as a supporting artist along with Sri. Kallidaikurichi S. Sivakumar on the Mridangam, Sri. K.V. Gopalakrishnan on the Kanjira, and Sri. Arvind Lakshmikanthan on the violin, as part of the Raghavendra Swamy Melakartha series Pallavi Concert, in the bay area. Varun is passionate about all forms of music and also plays the Western Double Bass as part of the school district orchestra. Varun also plays all star baseball for the Saratoga little league and is an avid basketball player. He will be a seventh grader at Redwood Middle School, in Saratoga, this fall.

Buvana Dayanandan (Vocal)

Buvana Dayanandan has been learning Carnatic music from Guru Smt. Jayashree Varadarajan, Founder/Director of Sri Rama Lalitha kala Mandir School of Fine Arts, for the past several years. Her passion for Carnatic music is being nurtured by her teacher Varadarajan who is a dedicated teacher with an extensive background in music, music education and philosophy. Buvana has participated in many of the school’s major productions such as the “ Pancharatna Krithis” for the Swaralahari television program, “Bhajana Sandhya”,” Kalavandana” school’s 25thanniversary commemoration, to name a few. In addition, Buvana has performed on various festival occasions at the Sanatan Dharma Kendra Sunnyvale, Shiva Vishnu temple Livermore, Shiva Murugan temple Concord, and Badarikashrama San Leandro. Buvana has won several prizes in the group category at the Natya Raga competition organized by OSAAT (one school at a time). Buvana’s early childhood training in Carnatic music was with the Late Sri. Kadalur Sundaresamaiyer. Buvana works in marketing at a high tech company and loves spending time with her family, whom she credits with, for being highly supportive of her passion for music.
