Shashank Mahesh (Vocal)

Shashank Mahesh is a freshman at Cupertino High School. Shashank has been learning carnatic music from guru Sri Ashok Subramaniam for the past 6 years. Shashank's other interests include playing table tennis and basketball.

Aparna Thyagarajan (Violin)

Aparna Thyagarajan started showing interest in Carnatic music from a very young age. She had her initial training in Carnatic vocal music from her mother Smt. Rama Thyagarajan, and started learning the violin at the age of 10. She is currently under the guidance of her uncle Vidwan Sri Delhi P. Sunderrajan for both vocal and violin. Aparna has provided violin accompaniment for many Bay Area schools, competitions, and individual artists. She has also given solo violin duets with her brother Vignesh Thyagarajan. Aparna has performed vocal music for various organizations throughout the Bay Area and has performed in Chennai as a part of the December Music Season. Aparna is currently a sophomore at Cupertino High School in Cupertino, CA.

Srivatsan (Mrudangam)

Srivatsan, a junior at Cupertino High School, has been learning Mridangam under the tutelage of Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan of the Sarvalaghu Percussion Art Centre. Last year, Srivatsan was privileged to perform his Mridangam Arangetram playing for his vocal guru, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T V Gopalakrishnan. He learns veena from Smt. Anuradha Sundar and is an avid seeker of music.

Kaushik Hariharan (Vocal)

Kaushik Hariharan is a great grand nephew of renowned Carnatic musician and composer Late Thuraiyur Shri M Rajagopala Sarma. Kaushik, a rising freshman at Cupertino High School, is an ardent student and passionate singer of carnatic vocal music. He is a student of Smt Jayanthi Umesh. Smt Jayanthi Umesh is a great source of guidance and inspiration for Kaushik's musical journey. He enjoys exploring manodharma and laya aspects of carnatic music. Kaushik has won several recognitions for his vocal music in competitions including Carnatic Music Idol USA. He has performed in India, Mahalakshmi Temple, London, UK, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, and many Bay Area venues. Kaushik is also learning Mrudangam under the tutelage of Sri Suriya Subramanian.

Ajay Gopi (Mrudhangam)

Ajay Gopi is a senior (12 th grader) at Irvington High School. He has been learning mridangam since 5th grade from his father Sri. Gopi Lakshminarayanan. He also receives additional training from Sri. Kallidaikurichi Sivakumar. Ajay had his arangetram on July 2013 with Sri. Neyveli Santhanagopalan on the vocal and Sri. Hemmige V. Srivatsan on the violin. He has performed in many prestigious sabhas in Chennai such as Krishna Gana Sabha, Indian Fine Arts, etc. during the 2013 and 2014 December music season. Ajay has won 1st prize in many competitions at regional, national and international levels. He accompanies various senior and junior artists on regular basis on live/recorded events.

He also learns vocal music from Sri. Padhuka Academy, Neyveli Gurukulum. Ajay plays tennis for his high school team.

Geeta Shankar (Veena)

Geeta Shankar a rising sophomore at Stanford Online High School who is extremely passionate about music. She learned veena from Sri. Srikanth Chary and Smt Vijaya Balasubramaniam. She has won first place in Veena competion at Cleveland Aradhana. She enjoys accompanying and regularly accompanies here in the Bayarea. She also learns vocal music from Sri. Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan. Apart from music she plays badminton and loves to have fun, particularly making kadi carnatic jokes. She is very thrilled to be accompanying here in Lotus for her friend Kaushik.
