Meera Gopalan

Meera had her initial musical training from Shri R. Sudaram a direct disciple of G N Balasubramaniam in Chennai at the age of 10. She continued to receive training under renowned violinist and AIR artist Smt Savithri Sathyamurthy in Chennai. After a long hiatus in 2010 she had the fortune of becoming a disciple of Smt. Jayanthi Umesh, director of Mahatee Music Academy.

Smt. Jayanthi Umesh has been trained in music under Vidushi Sugandha Raman, the well-known exponent of classical Indian Music. She received the Best Musician Award from Bangalore Gayana Samaja in 1984. Smt Jayanthi has performed in several music concerts at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, and sponsored events of South India Fine Arts, California.

Meera seeks the blessings of her gurus in continuing her passion for learning Carnatic music.

Durga Ganesh

Durga is a freshman at Lynbrook High and is learning Carnatic violin from Guru Dr. Susheela Narasimhan. She has given many violin performances and has won prizes in various music competitions.

Durga is also learning carnatic vocal music, enjoys reading & swimming.

Chandramouli Virunchipuram (Mouli):

Mouli had his initial training under Kumbakonam Sri Rajappa Iyer between 1983 and 1986. Since 2008, he has been learning mridangam under the tutelage of Guru Sri Ravindra Bharathy Sridharan, Artistic Director of Nadhopasana Academy of Fine Arts.

Mouli has been an active performer in his Guru’s school events and short concert segments. In addition to mridangam, Mouli has been trained in playing Morsing. He is part of the ‘Laya Vinyasam’ team put together by his Guru Ravindra Bharathy, which has performed at Vivriti music festival and OSAAT, receiving excellent reviews. In addition, Mouli has started accompanying various music schools as well.

Mouli’s other interests include Photography.
