Sowbarnika Kannan (Vocal)

Sowbarnika Kannan is a 11th grader at Washington High School. She has been learning vocal from Smt. Nisha Rajagopal. She has also been learning the Veena from Smt. Jyothi Chetan for the past 6 years. Sowbarnika has performed in various events such as CCC, SIFA, and OSAAT.Her very first solo recital was at SVLOTUS,on Dikshidar aradhana.

She loves to play the guitar and learned piano for five years.

Vignesh Thyagarajan (Violin)

Vignesh Thyagarajan hails from a family of musicians belonging to the lineage of Flute Maestro Bramhasri Saraba Sastrigal and started learning Carnatic vocal and violin at a very young age. Vignesh has been under the tutelage of his uncle VidwanShri.DelhiP.Sunderrajan for the last 8 years. Earlier he started his vocal violin lessons with his motherSmt.RamaThyagarajan and continued further with Shri.Susheela Narasimhan. Vignesh's clean tone provides a refreshing vehicle for appreciating classical music in the hands of yet another next-generation. At this young age, Vignesh has become a sought-after violinist in the San Francisco Bay Area, and regularly accompanies visiting artists from India, as well as playing solo concerts, and travelling to Chennai, India, regularly to accompany concerts by leading musicians there and had the privilege of playing a duet with his guru, Delhi Sri. P. Sunderrajan in the year of 2013.

Vignesh recently had his Violin solo Arangetram accompanied by Sri Neyveli Narayanan on Mrudangam and Sri. Adambakkam Sankar on Ghatam.

Srivatsan Tennathur (Mrudangam)

Srivatsan has been learning Mrudangam under the tutelage of Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan of the Sarvalaghu Percussion Art Centre. Recently, Srivatsan was privileged to perform his Arangetram playing for his vocal guru, legendary musician Dr. T V Gopalakrishnan. He learns veena from Smt. Anuradha Sundar. He has been regularly accompanying various budding artists as well as senior students of music around the Bay Area. He is a sophomore at Cupertino High.

Shankara Srikantan (Vocal)

Shankara Srikantan is a disciple of the maestro Sri O. S. Thiagarajan, or OST, as he is more popularly known. He had his initial training in Carnatic violin under Smt. Anuradha Sridhar. He subsequently came under the tutelage of Sri. OST and has been learning from him for the past three years. Shankara is a sophomore at Cupertino High School where he is an enthusiastic member of the speech and debate club, chamber orchestra, and the tennis team. He is also a keen cricketer. This is Shankara’s maiden vocal performance.

Durga Ganesh (Violin)

Durga Ganesh is a senior disciple of Sri. Susheela Narasimhan and has given many violin performances in India & the bay area. Durga also learns and gives carnatic vocal performances. She is a junior at Lynbook High School.

Srivatsan Tennathur (mrudangam)

Nikhil Duggirala (Vocal)

Nikhil Duggirala is a Senior at Evergreen Valley High school, San Jose. Nikhil has been learning Carnatic vocal music for the past 12 years under the guidance of Sangeetha Vidushi Smt. Jayashree Varadarajan, Founder and Director of Sri RamaLalitha Kala Mandir School of Fine Arts. Nikhil has participated in several music performances around the Bay Area under the auspices of the music school including the school’s annual Vijayadasami functions, the school’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, and several temple performances. He also participated in the“Parama Prema” benefit concert conducted by Nandalala Mission in conjunction with the music school.

In addition to pursuing his passion in Carnatic vocal, Nikhil is also learning Veena from Smt.Lalitha Venkatraman.

Susheela Narasimhan (Violin)

Mr Narasimhan learnt violin from Sri H.K. Venkatram in Shimoga for about a year and later on from

He also teaches violin in the Bay area and has produced good students who are now playing for concerts in the Bay area. He has composed many Pallavis on Lord Raghavendra Swamy and runs a Melakartha Pallavi Concert Series. He has also given lecture demonstrations on California Arts Association Television on violin playing. He has a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and works as a Senior Staff Engineer for Juniper Networks in Sunnyvale.

Akshay Venkatesan (Mridangam)

Akshay Venkatesan, an 8th grader at Chaboya Middle school is learning Mridangam from Sri. Ramesh Srinivasan, a leading disciple of Mridangam Maestro Late Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Vellore G. Ramabhadran. Akshay had his mridangam arangetram on January 03, 2013 at Tattvaloka, Chennai. He was blessed to accompany Sri. Chitravina N. Ravikiran on Chitravina. Akshay has accompanied on Mridangam in various programs at Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Akshay has been accompanying vocalists and instrumentalists in Bay area for the last four years. In addition, Akshay regularly accompanies in December music season at various sabhas.

Akshay also learns vocal Carnatic music and is a student of Sri Paduka Academy. His other activities include playing tennis and basketball as well as saxophone in his school band.
