Vittal Thirumalai (Vocal)

Vittal Thirumalai is learning Carnatic vocal from Srimathi Padma Shankar, a senior disciple of Padmabhushan Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. Vittal’s initial training on Carnatic Vocal started at the age of 5 for seven years from Srimathi Latha Sriram, a senior disciple of Padmabhushan Shri P S Narayanaswamy.

Vittal is also learning Carnatic violin from Srimathi Padma Shankar, a senior disciple of Padmabhushan Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. Initially he started learning violin at the age of seven from Dr. Saravanpriyan Sriraman, disciple of Sri. Lalgudi GJR Krishnan.

Vittal has been performing both vocal and violin solo concerts in many bay area events including SR fine arts, Lotus, Osaat, Papanasam Sivan & OVK festival and school productions. He has a unique skill of performing vocal singing and violin playing at the same time. In addition he has been accompanying for vocal artists and many music school festivals. He is an 8th grader at VCJHS School in San Jose and likes to solve creative math problems, and his other passion includes robotics, chess and basketball.

Sasidhar Madugula (Violin)

Sasidhar Madugula started his Carnatic violin training at the age of 8 under Sri Dinesh Narayan. He has been undergoing advanced training for the past 9 years from Kalaimamani Sri Vittal Ramamurthy of Chennai, a disciple of Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman. He has won recognition from several organizations, including the Chicago Thyagaraja Utsavam, the Sivan Fine Arts Academy, SAPNA, and Bharati Theertha. He regularly gives solo concerts, and accompanies many local and leading artists. Sasidhar is currently studying medicine at Stanford University.

Akshay Venkatesan (Mrudangam)

Akshay Venkatesan, an 9th grader in Chaboya Middle School, is a student of Sarvalagu Percussion Art Center and has been learning Mridangam from `Laya Kala Ratna’ Sri Ramesh Srinivasan, a leading disciple of Mridangam Maestro Late Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Vellore G. Ramabhadran.

Akshay has been accompanying vocalists and instrumentalists in Bay area for the last four years. In addition, Akshay has been accompanying in many Sabhas in the December music season in Chennai since 2013 for various vocal and instrumentalists.

Akshay also learns vocal Carnatic music and is a student of Sri Paduka Academy. His other activities include playing tennis and basketball as well as saxophone in his school band and participation in Science Olympiad.

Kavya Kodungallur (Vocal)

Kavya is a student of Vidwan Sikkil Gurucharan. She had been under the guidance of Smt. Nandini Ramamurthi for more than 4 years, and continues to take lessons from her. She did her initial lessons under Smt. Geetha Iyer. Kavya also learns Veena from Sri. Srikanth Chary. Kavya is a freshman at Dublin High School.

Shreyas Ramaswami (Mrudangam)

Shreyas Ramaswami is a disciple of Sri Ravindra Bharathy Sridharan, founder of Nadhopasana Academy of Fine Arts for the past 7 years. He completed his mrudangam arangetram in 2014, accompanying Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Sri Delhi Sunder Rajan and Sri Ravi Balasubramanian. Shreyas is a recipient of the 2015 Alliance of California Traditional Arts apprenticeship with his Guru. He is a frequent performer at various Bay Area venues and has participated in his school's Laya Vinyasam (percussion ensemble) as both a mrudangam and kanjira player. He has won prizes at the Papanasam Sivan and OSAAT competitions. Shreyas is a senior at Homestead High School.

Alaap Rag Krishnan (Vocal)

Alaap Rag is a 6th grader at Lawson Middle School in Cupertino. He has been learning Carnatic Vocal for the past 6 years under the tutelage of Sri. Ashok Subramaniam and recently started getting training also from Ananya Ashok (his guru’s daughter). He also learns Carnatic Violin from Smt.Lakshmi Balasubrahmanya. He has participated in several events in the bay area and won prizes in Papanasam Sivan and Kala Aaradhana competitions.

Santhosh Ravindrabharathy (Mrudangam)

Santhosh Ravindrabharathy, a 12 year old, hails from the well-known 'Embar' family, known for its involvement in Music and Spirituality. He is very passionate about playing mrudangam and is learning mridangam under his father Shri Ravindra Bharathy Sridharan, Founder/Director Nadhopasana Academy of Fine arts, for the past 6 1/2 years, and also now, he is blessed to learn from Guru Shri Neyveli Narayanan as well. Santhosh has been regularly accompanying various music schools in the bay area for their events.

He has participated in many competitions including the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana and has been a consistent prize winner for the past four years. In June 2015, Santhosh was awarded the IndianRaga 2015 fellowship. He is also learning vocal music under Guru Smt.Jayashree Varadarajan for the past 6 years. His other passions include oil painting and writing short stories.
